3. Use the washer’s specified transport supports
For the front loaders covered by its guidance, Whirlpool calls for a certified technician to prepare the washer for relocation, install new transport bolts and keep it upright. It specifically says not to reuse the bolts. Check your own model before ordering parts. Wrapping the cabinet in a moving blanket does not replace the required internal transport supports.
Top loaders differ. Whirlpool describes a packing ring or specified padding for the models in its top-loader guide. GE describes designs that use a shipping rod, foam or a cardboard cone. Follow your model’s instructions instead of applying front-loader bolt advice to every washer.
4. Arrange dryer disconnection and inspect the vent
Use a qualified installer for the dryer’s gas connection and reinstallation. Whirlpool’s gas-dryer manual assigns installation and service to qualified personnel and includes securing the open gas supply when the appliance is removed. Leave that work to the installer. If you smell gas, leave the building without operating electrical switches and call the gas supplier from outside; call the fire department if the supplier cannot be reached.

6. Reinstall, then check before the first load
